Starch and Potassium Iodide papers detect the presence of oxidizing agents such as chlorine which can be an interferent in the distillation of samples for cyanide analysis. The papers turn a deep blue color when oxidizing agents are detected. They are also of value for the determination of ‘end point' in titrations using sodium nitrite solutions.
