High Temperature TKN Block Perform the Kjeldahl digestion process automatically with Environmental Express high temperature digestion blocks for TKN. These durable, well-made blocks heat up quickly for optimum performance. As many as 20 applications, including TKN, can be stored in the easily programmable controller. To perform TKN, the controller is programmed to ramp the temperature of the block to 190°C and hold that temperature for 30 minutes. Then the block temperature automatically elevates to 390°C and remains at that temperature for 90 minutes. At that point the block shuts off to end the digestion. Other high temperature digestions are programmed just as easily for temperature, ramp rate and hold times. Up to 30 steps can be incorporated for each digestion procedure. To withstand the highly corrosive nature of the TKN procedure, the high temperature block is encased with 316 stainless steel rather than painted or powder coated metal. The tube stand and cooling rack are also 316SS. The controller is remote from the block itself and should be placed outside the fume hood to reduce the likelihood of acid damage. Two Capacities Available TKN Blocks are available in a 50 position model for use with 100mL digestion tubes or a 28 position model for use with 250mL digestion tubes. Both models come complete with a stainless steel tube rack with a draft shield. Cooling stand and glassware is sold separately.
