The shelf life of the reagents is 24 months and must be kept refrigerated. We do sell these 4 reagents in a kit, part # D1500-1L for 1-liter bottles and part # D1500-100 for 100mL bottles.
This solution is prepared exactly in accordance with Standard Methods, 150 mg glucose/L and 150 mg glutamic acid/L. You would add 6 mL of this solution to one 300 mL BOD bottle to achieve the appropriate results.
This reagent is added to your source water in the amount of 1 mL per liter of dilution water you wish to make. If you wish to make 6 L of dilution water you would add 6 mL of each of the required reagents. The reagents can be purchased individually or as a set of 4, D1500.
The Phosphate buffer, magnesium sulfate and ferric chloride have a shelf life of 24 months while the calcium chloride is 12 months.
These reagents come in a set of 4 bottles; one each of phosphate buffer, calcium chloride, magnesium sulfate, and ferric chloride solutions. To use, you will add one mL of each bottle per liter of dilution water that you wish to prepare. These solutions are prepared exactly as stated in SM 5210B. You will add one mL of each of the 4 solutions to one liter of dilution water.
Once opened the solution has a 30 day expiration.
This solution is prepared according to the directions in Standard Methods. It contains 150 mg Glucose and 150 mg Glutamic acid per liter of solution. If analyzed according to the method, it will give the required BOD value of 198 ± 30.5 mg/L. This does come with a certificate of analysis.
The manufacturer recommends holding the seed suspension for a total of 6 hours from rehydration.
The instructions state to use 500 mL of dilution water to rehydrate each capsule. However, this volume can be adjusted according to individual laboratory procedures to compensate for the source water, desired strength of seed or other factors.
We do not recommend reuse of the bottles. The coating on the inside of the bottle is what prevents the seepage of oxygen through the plastic. This coating can become compromised in the cleaning process.
The shelf life of our Polyseed capsules is 2 years from the date of manufacture.
