Question/Answer

Does SC415 come with a volume certificate of validation?

Yes, this cup comes with a certificate of analysis containing volume certification and metals levels.

Is volume of these tubes certified in any way?

Yes, these tubes are certified at the 15 mL line as indicated on the tube. A copy of the certification study for each lot is usually available here - https://www.envexp.com/component/content/article/148?Itemid=109. If you do not see your lot available please email info@envexp.com with your lot number and a volume certification can be provided for you.

Does SC475 include the caps?

Yes, if you order part number SC475 you will get digestion vessels and caps to go with them. If you would like to get vessels without caps please use part number SC474. If you just want to order caps please use part number SC475-C.

Would it be possible to buy these bottles in quantities less than 225?

These are only sold in boxes of 225.

What are the dimensions of the SC490 cups?

These cups have an outer diameter of 45 mm at the base and a height of 100 mm.

Will this vessel support hydrofluoric acid (40% ) at 200 deg celcius?

These cups are manufactured from polypropylene. As such they are only rated to a temperature of 130 C. We do have digestion cups made of PTFE that are HF resistant and will withstand that digestion temperature; item #SC610.

Are the graduations on these tubes certified in any way?

A volume test is done on each new lot of cups for each cavity that is used to mold them. We carry these volume studies on our website. We do not claim a particular class of certification for any of our digestion vessels because the vessels do not meet the requirements for such. Specifically for Class A certification a vessel must be made of borosilicate glass, have a minimum wall thickness, and have a maximum inner diameter. The requirement for glass and a minimum wall thickness are to minimize the potential for volume change due to the heating and cooling of the material being measured. The inner diameter requirement is to allow for a definite meniscus to form and be read in relation to graduations. While Class B does not have such stringent requirements it does still have certain technicalities that preclude the digestion vessels from being labeled as such. That all being said, the volume studies show that it is possible to achieve results that are within Class A tolerances with careful attention by the end user.
